Education software is available in many school universities and Institutions worldwide. The advancement in technology has lead to a great advancement in teaching and learning techniques and possibilities. Education has been constantly changing and evolving in regards to technology for many years now. Modern technology has been used within education since the early 1940. It has always been regarded as a great tool for teaching and learning ever since its creation. From as early as 1943 American researchers developed a flight simulator for pilots which used an Analogue computer and exactly generated and simulated on-board instrument data. From then onwards it was used within teaching for many different industries.

Although it was not until the early 1970, which marked the arrival of the personal computer that educational software took another big leap in progression. Obviously when computers began to become a popularised device that was now accessible to many members of the general public. As this began many software companies began to develop educational programmes for the consumer. In the early 1990 advances in computer software made great developments within educational software. On screen graphics were increased and CD-ROMs became the preferred method of programme delivery. And of course the introduction of the Internet in the late 1990 lead to even more educational software with new methods of delivery.

SO over the past 70 years we have seen a wide range of educational software trends come and go, and the most successful still remain within many western classroom environments. We have seen great interactive children games which are aimed and engaging children in learning through the idea of play often encourage literacy and numeracy skills. There is also a huge range of educational software aids used within the classroom by teachers and lecturers, such as computers, interactive whiteboards and CD and DVD. Many schools and institutions also brought in the computer assessment software where paperless working and examinations can take place.

We can also find a huge rang of education reference software such as encyclopaedias and dictionaries available in online and CD ROM form. Many include sound, video and interactive elements. There is also a whole range of educational games that come with the added learning value. We see Education software also available within higher learning such as school lackboardwhich allows students to gain access to up to date information and resources online, which is maintained by their university or college.
